Gym Floor Appeal

 Dear friends of Glen Eira College,

As you know, we have been on a journey of steady growth and continuous improvement for the past few years. We are working hard to ensure our students have every opportunity to succeed!

In the sport and PE area, we have completed the tennis courts, air-conditioned the gym, laid a new all- weather surface for outdoor sports and installed some wonderful outdoor fitness equipment. We now need to turn our sights to the gym. We must replace the floor urgently as it is seriously worn and damaged, necessitating "bandaid measures" (unsightly tape!) in an attempt to make it safe for use. We cannot even restore the court markings due to the poor quality of the surface.

One of our parents contacted Bendigo Community Bank at Ormond who have generously given us a seeding grant of $1,000 to begin a fund to replace the floor. They will also ensure the school benefits financially from any Glen Eira College community member who transfers their banking to them. College Council intends to make a focused appeal to GEC gym hirers and also to run some other fund-raising efforts. Australasian Sports Floors, experts in the field, have costed a durable, fully-sprung hardwood replacement floor at $75,000.
