Overview and Handbooks
The curriculum at Glen Eira College focuses on forging a learning partnership of teachers and students. The curriculum aims to be broad, engaging and challenging with programs that provide meaningful and satisfying outcomes. We are developing a teaching and learning vision that reflects a collaborative approach to achieve quality teaching and learning with the involvement of all stakeholders – teachers, parents and students. We are committed to an engaging curriculum through a pedagogical approach characterised by lessons that include starter activities, clear learning aims, differentiated learning tasks, review of lesson content and evaluation of the learning that has occurred.
Reporting at the college occurs four times a year. At the end of each semester there is a full written report that contains detailed information relating to the achievement of a student and the things they could do to further improve.
At the end of term 1 and term 3 a short progress report is provided to parents. This serves as a snap shot of student progress and provides an indication of how a student is progressing in key areas such as independence, quality of work and participation. This information can be discussed in more detail with class teachers at the Parent-Teacher interview day in the final week of each of these terms.
